IEC 60332-2Tests on Electric CablesUnder Fire Conditions Part 2: Test on a Single Small Vertical Insulated CopperWire or Cable

Abstract摘要

Specifiesthe procedure for testing the resistance to vertical flame propagation for asingle small vertical electrical insulated conductor or cable, or opticalcable, under fire conditions. The apparatus is given in IEC 60332-2-1.This standard gives the procedure for testing small optical fibre cables or asmall insulated conductor or cable when the method specified in IEC 60332-1-2is not suitable because some small optical fibre cables may break or smallconductors may melt during the application of the flame. The recommended rangeof application is for the testing of small single insulated conductors orcables of less than 0,5 mmY cross-section. NOTE Since the use of insulatedconductor or cable which retards flame propagation and complies with therecommended requirements of this standard is not sufficient by itself toprevent propagation of fire under all conditions of installation, it isrecommended that wherever the risk of propagation is high, for example, in longvertical runs of bunches of cables, special installation precautions shouldalso be taken. It cannot be assumed that because the sample of cable complieswith the performance requirements recommended in this standard, that a bunch ofcables will behave in a similar manner.

IEC 60695-2-12FireHazard Testing - Part 2-12: Glowing/Hot-Wire Based Test Methods - Glow-WireFlammability Test Method for Materials

Abstract摘要

Specifiesthe details of the glow-wire test to be applied to test specimens of solid electricalinsulating materials or other solid materials for flammability testing todetermine the glow-wire flammability index (GWFI).

The test results make it possible to provide a relative comparison of variousmaterials according to their ability to extinguish flames on removal of theelectrically heated glow-wire and their ability not to produce flaming orglowing particles capable of spreading fire to a specified layer of wrappingtissue placed below.

The test method is not valid for determining the flammability of complete itemsof equipment, since the dimensions of the insulating systems or combustibleparts, the design and heat transfer to adjacent metallic or non-metallic parts, etc., greatly influence the flammability of the materials used therein. Inaddition to this, it is not valid for determining fire behaviour and firehazard of equipment.

IEC 60695-2-13FireHazard Testing - Part 2-13: Glowing/Hot-Wire Based Test Methods - Glow-WIreIgnitability Test Method for Materials

Abstract摘要

This part of IEC 60695 specifies thedetails of the glow-wire test to be applied to test specimens of solidelectrical insulating materials or other solid materials for ignitabilitytesting to determine the glow-wire ignition temperature (GWIT).

The GWIT is the temperature which is 25 K(or 30 K) higher than the maximum test temperature, determined during thisstandardized procedure, at which the tested material

a) does not ignite, or

b) if sustained and continuous flamingcombustion does not occur for a time longer than 5 s for any single flame eventand the specimen is not totally consumed.

This test is a materials test carried outon a series of standard test specimens. The data obtained, along with data fromthe glow-wire flammability index (GWFI) test method for materials, IEC 60695-2-12,can then be used in a preselection process in accordance with IEC 60695-1-30to judge the ability of materials to meet the requirements of IEC 60695-2-11.

NOTE As an outcome of conducting a firehazard assessment, an appropriate series of preselection flammability andignition tests may allow a reduction of end product testing.

IEC 60695-6-31FireHazard Testing - Part 6-31: Smoke Obscuration - Small-Scale Static Test –Materials

Abstract摘要

Applicableto flat, solid non-metallic specimens of materials used in electro technicalproducts. This method is not applicable to the testing of non-flat productssuch as insulated wires and cables, as it is not possible to obtain asatisfactory distribution of heat flux with such products. May not beapplicable for materials which melt and flow away from the direct impingementof heat flux and do not give a smoke emission, which is representative ofcurrent knowledge from real fire situations. The purpose of this method is todetermine, under specific experimental conditions, the optical density of smokeproduced by materials exposed vertically to a radiant heat source with orwithout the application of a pilot flame in a closed chamber (i.e. withoutair-change). Has the status of a basic safety publication in accordance withIEC Guide 104.

IEC 60695-7-3Fire hazard testing Part 7-3: Toxicity of fire effluent Use andinterpretation of test results

Abstract摘要

Concerns laboratorytests used to measure the toxic components of the fire effluent from eitherelectro technical products or materials used in electro technical products. Itprovides guidance on the use and interpretation of results from such tests. Itdiscusses currently available approaches to toxic hazard assessment consistentwith the approach of ISO TC 92 SC 3, as set out in ISO/TR 9122-1 to 9122-6, ISO13344 and ISO/TS 13571. It also provides guidance on the use of toxic potencydata in hazard assessment and on principles which underlie the use ofcombustibility and toxicological information in hazard assessment.

The methods described are applicable to data concerning both the incapacitatingeffects and the lethal effects of fire effluents.

The structure of this technical specification remains essentially the same asthe first edition but has been usefully expanded in all areas to further clarifythe alignment with ISO/TC 92 Fire Safety and in particular with ISO 13344 andISO/TS 13571.

The main topics have been expanded upon to bring them into alignment with thecurrent philosophy for the use and interpretation of test results.

- Formulae are given for the calculation of the fraction of the incapacitatingdose for each of the asphyxiants, carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide.
- Volume fractions that are expected to cause incapacitation (F values) aregiven for some of the more important irritants.
- Equations used to predict death are given.
- The hyperventilate effect of carbon dioxide is discussed.

Abstract摘要

Specifiesa small-scale laboratory screening procedure for comparing the relative burningbehaviour of specimens made from plastics and other non-metallic materials, aswell as their resistance to burn-through when exposed to a flame ignitionsource of 500 W nominal power. This method is applicable to both solidmaterials and cellular plastic materials having an apparent density of 250 kg/m3 or greater when determined inaccordance with ISO 845. It does not apply to thin materials that shrink awayfrom the applied flame without igniting, for which ISO 9773 should be used. Thetest method described is intended to characterize material performance, forexample for quality-control purposes, and is not intended to assess thebehaviour to fire of building materials or furnishings. It may be used for thepre-selection of a material, provided that positive results are obtained at athickness which equals the smallest thickness used in the application. Theresults obtained provide some information about the behaviour of plasticmaterials in service, but can never by themselves assure safe performance inservice. This test method provides a classification system which may be usedfor quality assurance or the pre-selection of component materials of products.
