EN 13238:Reaction to Fire Tests forBuilding Products - Conditioning Procedures and General Rules for Selection ofSubstrates
Abstract摘要
The Construction Products Directive requires products tobe tested in their end use condition which, for the purpose of substrates, could lead to an economically unrealistic large variety of tests to be carriedout. This large spectrum has been reduced to a practical number of standardsubstrates that enables the majority of end use conditions to be represented.Rules for the selection of such substrates are also given in this standard.
BS EN 13238 is for use in conjunction with EuropeanStandards covering the reaction to fire test methods for the relevantconstruction products.
BS EN 13238 describes the conditioning procedures fortest specimens which will be tested according to the European standards forreaction to fire.
BS EN 13238 also covers the rules for the selection ofsubstrates for construction products when carrying out reaction to fire tests.
BS EN 13238 does not contain requirements for:
· Thepre-drying of test specimens for the non-combustibility test according EN ISO1182
· Methodsof cleaning (e.g. washing) and other methods for the assessment of durabilityaspects, which are dealt with in the relevant product standards.

Abstract摘要
This EuropeanStandard provides the reaction to fire classification procedure for allconstruction products, including products incorporated within buildingelements.
Products areconsidered in relation to their end use application.
This document appliesto three categories, which are treated separately in this European Standard:
-construction products, excluding floorings and linear pipe thermal insulation products; floorings, linear pipe thermal insulation products.
EN 13823:建筑产品的对火测试反应-单体测试
EN 13823:Reaction to Fire Tests forBuilding Products - Bulding Products Excluding Floorings Exposed to the ThermalAttack by a Single Burning Item
Abstract摘要
TheSingle Burning Item test can be considered as the backbone of the Euroclasssystem for building products. The test results are required for aclassification D - B (combined with test results from EN 11925-2), for aclassification A2 (combined with test results from EN ISO 1716), and sometimesfor a classification A1.
TESTPRINCIPLE
Thespecimen is exposed to a diffusive flame of 30 kW. Combustion gases arecollected by an exhaust hood for analysis. This gas analysis makes it possibleby oxygen depletion to calculate heat release rate from the specimen. Smokeproduction is assessed by measuring attenuation of a light beam by smoke in theexhaust duct. The burning behaviour of the specimen is observed for flamespread, and the occurrence of burning particles and droplets.

EN 50266-2-4:CommonTest Methods for Cables under Fire Conditions - Test for Vertical Flame Spreadof Vertically-Mounted Bunched Wires or Cables Part 2-4: Procedures - Category C
Abstract摘要
EN 50266 specifiesmethods of test for the assessment of vertical flame spread of
vertically-mounted bunchedwires or cables, electrical or optical, under defined conditions.
The test is intended fortype approval testing. The requirements for the selection of cables for testingare given in annex A. The flame spread is measured as the extent of damage ofthe cable sample. This procedure may be used to demonstrate the cable’s abilityto limit flame spread.
This Part 2-4 coversCategory C and relates to cables installed on the test ladder to achieve anominal total volume of non-metallic material of 1,5 litres per metre of testsample. The flame application time is 20 min. The method of mounting uses thefront of the standard ladder. The category is intended for general use wherelow volumes of non-metallic material are required to be evaluated.
A recommendedperformance requirement is given in annex B.
EN 50268:在燃烧条件下电缆通用测试方法-在规定条件下电缆燃烧烟密度测量
EN 50268:Common Test Methods forCables under Fire Conditions - Measurement of Smoke Density of Cables Burningunder Defined Conditions
Abstract摘要
The test is performedinside a chamber measuring 3 metres by 3 metres by 3 metres and
the test is sometimesreferred to as the three metre cube test.
The number of lengthsand the mounting arrangement of the cables is dependant upon
its outer diameter. Oncethe specimens have been bundled as required, they are placed
onto the specimen standand an alcohol fuel source is placed below the test specimen. At
the start of the testthe fuel is ignited.
The test is performed bymonitoring the transmittance reduction of a white light beam,
running from one side ofthe chamber to the other at a set height, thus monitoring the
build up of smoke insidethe chamber. A small fan is utilised inside the chamber to
prevent the smokebuilding up in a layered effect and a draft screen is utilised to protect
the specimen and theflame source from any wind turbulence.
The test duration is 40minutes.
Test Results
The minimum percentagelight transmission is often used to determine if the product has
passed or failed thetest, often a minimum light transmittance of ≥ 60% is applied in
order to classify acable as low smoke (though this does depend upon the specification
document).
Sometimes the limitssupplied in specification documents are Ao values. The Ao results
are generally calculatedby use of the following equation (in accordance with the Beer-
Lambert law), convertingthe transmittance of light received by the detector into the
measured optical densityof the smoke (Am):
Am = log10 (I0/It)
Where:
I0 is the initialluminous intensity
It is the transmitted luminousintensity
Ao is calculated by thefollowing equation:
Ao = (Am x V) / (K x l)
Am is the opticaldensity measured in the cube.
V is the volume of thecube in metres.
l is the length of theoptical path between the windows in metres.
K is the number of unitsof material constituting a test specimen.
NB.The value of K is the number of lengths of cable used in the test specimen.

EN 60695-11-20:FireHazard Testing - Part 11-20: Test Flames - 500 W Flame Test Methods
Abstract摘要
Specifiesa small-scale laboratory screening procedure for comparing the relative burningbehaviour of specimens made from plastics and other non-metallic materials, aswell as their resistance to burn-through when exposed to a flame ignitionsource of 500 W nominal power. This method is applicable to both solidmaterials and cellular plastic materials having an apparent density of 250 kg/m3 or greater when determined inaccordance with ISO 845. It does not apply to thin materials that shrink awayfrom the applied flame without igniting, for which ISO 9773 should be used. Thetest method described is intended to characterize material performance, forexample for quality-control purposes, and is not intended to assess thebehaviour to fire of building materials or furnishings. It may be used for thepre-selection of a material, provided that positive results are obtained at athickness which equals the smallest thickness used in the application. Theresults obtained provide some information about the behaviour of plasticmaterials in service, but can never by themselves assure safe performance inservice. This test method provides a classification system which may be usedfor quality assurance or the pre-selection of component materials of products.
